Singapore Idle
Has anyone seen that spot on TVMobile where all 12 finalists of Singapore Idol are put in this rather eye-catching yet rather silly morph sequence?
Am I the only one who thinks that Maia (who’s much publicised motherhood actually makes her name all that much more appropriate) with her distinctive tattoo and determined look, is the only breath of fresh air in a group of sickeningly saccharine-sweet finalists?
Oh, and that Sylvester looks more feminine than Maia or Candice (a feat I thought was impossible to accomplish)?
Well, I know who I’ll be rooting for at the finals this evening — won’t vote for them, of course; I can’t afford to — but it sickens me to know that what’s more likely to happen is that looks will triumph over talent. Ironically, though, I’m backing Maia — who has won me over with her character more than her ability. I guess, as with all things, time will tell, but I won’t be too hard up about the results.
Maia is already MY Singapore Idol as far as I’m concerned.

sorry mate, saccharine sweet opposition aside, ayam lee probably won’t win. i’m rooting for someone who can actually sing!
other observations: i think too many of the sengkarpor adois wink for their bit of the Black-Or-White rip-off, and sylvester looks like Hide of X-Japan, though that’d be an insult to Hide (RIP).

sylvester looks absolutely gay all thanks to maia actually, he had to morph over from her mannerisms. (seriously tho, gays can be more feminine than women, even feminine women.)
anybody notice that olinda has the broadest shoulders?
and once again, personally, Maia can’t sing (but who am I to judge?) which you’ve gone as far to admit… interestingly what riles me more than her uh-ohuhohohoh (which really cmi) was her character, it irks me just that bit less than olinda’s. Still, those things bounce! boing boing!
oh, and sylvester likes j-rock hence the look.

Yes re sylvester. And i kinda like the morph sequence, even if i wish that they could do at least something more fluid.

I’ve learnt that Mediacorp obviously pays peanuts for its video-editors, that’s why you have monkeys who don’t produce anywhere close to perfection - which is the only standard in this industry.
That being said, however, the sequencing this spot was much better done than anything I’ve seen from the show itself.

agreed. most of it was actually rather jarring and didn’t flow smoothly especially towards the end where i noticed some pretty bad cuts.
but yeah, better than the show itself.
and all of us should vote against olinda.

Personally, I’m hoping someone who actually *can* sing will win. IE not Maia. Ironically, Olinda can sing…and she’s one of the better ones…so I guess I’ll be rooting(but not voting, hehehe) for her.
