Celebrity Watch: Day 2

Just when you thought Hossan Leong would be the only celebrity coming by the office… May and Choy Wan pop their heads in at the end of the day! First Maia, now the Wan twins… As I told direcow, it’s almost as if someone’s handing me Christmas presents early… for like the next decade or so.

I’d be very worried if I believed in karma.

In other news, had my first day in court today, just to see how a litigation lawyer handles herself in an injunction. No names revealed, suffice to say, she handled herself expertly and impressively. I hope to see more of the law process over the coming days.

Getting my celebrity fix…

So I’ve just begun ‘work’ at a law corp (identity to remain undisclosed) and there are just so many perks here! Chief of which, is the number of local celebrities I expect to rub shoulders with. Already, I’ve met the one and only Maia Lee, who is much more attractive in person than she’s ever been on screen. For those close to me, they know that I’m hooked on local celebs (why else would I have copies of the local FHM around the house?) and this is, in many ways, a dream come true.

I can’t imagine who I might see next.

The true Singapore Idol?

Who is the true Singapore Idol? I believe it’s anyone who can emulate Taufik Batisah. In our first SI, you had a man who was unexpectedly voted into the Top 12, but persevered and improved by leaps and bounds. In other words, he was a man who took the opportunity given to him and proved that he deserved to remain in the competition, winning even the harshest critic over.

Will there be someone like that in this year’s competition? Who knows.

What I do know, however, is that Gayle Nerva’s Idol journey ended way too prematurely. It was a depressing SMS that I got from Kathy in the midst of my Freshman Orientation Camp’s “Secret Pal Night” – “Gayle is out! can you believe it?” And to add to the travesty, she was in the bottom three with Jay and Paul! The voting public is esssentially making the Wildcard round redundant, by systematically eliminating Norman, then Gayle and then keeping Jay in the bottom three.

Nonetheless, I am grateful for Gayle’s chance to reach the Spectaculars. Her almost daily blogs were just so genuine I think she endeared even more fans to her. In her farewell video, she noted how overwhelmed she was by the love of her fans, especially those that grew into friends during the course of the jouney. I believe that made all the difference. If Gayle’s sheer presence in the Idol competition could elicit such an outpouring of love… then she’s already a winner.

Keep singing, Gayle Nerva! We’re always going to be behind our Gaylie.

The end of a crazy week…

I’ve so much to blog I might have to do seperate pages for all of them. In a nutshell though, this is what I’ll be sharing about in the coming week.

- The World Cup Final on Monday morning
- Thank You For Smoking on Tuesday evening
- Superman Returns on Wednesday evening
- Hanging out at Viv’s condo on Thursday
- BayBeats on Saturday and Sunday night

I’m sure there’s more to that, but right now, my brain can’t recall the other half of the things I did.

Andrew and I in St. Peter's Basilica

It’s been four days since I returned from my trip to Europe, but there’s so much still on my mind from all the experiences there.

I promise to take the time to properly write down all the thoughts, emotions and adventures we’ve had, but tonight’s not the night.

For those of you that are so inclined, I’ve uploaded 22 of the hundreds of photos we took that more or less describe our trip in essence. You can find them on my Flickr page here.
