Friendster

So this challenge from tc comes and we (the ACS GEP batch of 98) are all supposed to guess when this sixdegrees wannabe site called friendster.com is going to turn belly-up (following in the footsteps of its predecessor). Naturally, I don’t pay the slightest bit of attention to it.

So unfortunately, when a friend of mine decides to get addicted to it and decides to add me to it… I’m forced to. =P

So… does anyone wanna be “my friend”?

Recap of the days gone by…

21st Birthday Party at Hard Rock Café

In many ways, it really made up for the not so cool day I had in school. Thanks to the eight guests, and one other birthday boy who turned up. The food was good (except my order… NEVER EVER try the Pig Sandwich. It’s as bad as it sounds), the music was great and the company was all you expected it to be. All in all, it was a lot better than what I had in mind, which would have consisted of a Trek-themed party at Igor’s. I wonder who would go for that?

Camp

So four of them left after dinner, while the remaining group of us decided to watch a midnight movie. Once again, I made the wrong decision and coerced them to watch Camp, which I hoped was as good as others said it was. One and half hours later, and I was groaning in my seat. You know something’s wrong when the main character’s called Vlad.

In fact, the movie sucked so bad I’m not even going to bother about reviewing it. The actors and actresses are VERY talented though. Pity.

Firsts…

Many firsts to talk about… there’s my first midnight movie (at least, as far as I can recall), my first day as a 21 year old, my first proper birthday party, and then there’s my first time using a Mac. It’s also really cool that the Mac doesn’t belong to me, but to that wonderful person who I mentioned earlier. =) It’s nice to be in love again.

I think it’s ironic…

…that I won’t be inviting someone I’ve grown to love to this Friday’s little celebration, because she doesn’t know anyone else there.

So far, we’ve got 10 people, who all know each other… mostly. Once again, sorry if you didn’t get wind of it.

Thank you all.

Especially those that have religiously been checking back in for the past week since I’ve last updated.

This past week was our one-week recess, to coincide with that of the primary and secondary schools here. Ironically, that meant I had zero opportunity to blog, because almost every waking moment was spent doing something. Now that I’m back in the school library on a regular basis, I think it’s safe to say that blogging should continue as per normal.

Quick recap of the week that was:

Monday: Spent the whole day at East Coast Park with the Catholic community in NTU. Really fun. It’s been a heck of a long time since I’ve been to the beach and just waded around in the water. Tide was strong and that added to the kick of the whole situation. Went to watch Pirates of the Carribbean later. Johnny Depp is STILL my hero.

Tuesday: FC Bayern fails to make it to the Champions’ League in my CM3 game. Depressed. Wishes for a free copy of CM4. Mope around the rest of the day.

Wednesday: Spent the day in school. Unfortunately, never got a chance to do any work. Not that I brought any work to do.

Thursday: Mope. The freaky thing is I don’t even remember what went down on Thursday.

Friday: Whole morning spent cleaning the room allocated to the Catholic Students’ Apostolate (of which I’m an Ex-Co member). Went down to witness the commissioning Mass for the NUS Catholic Students’ Society. Discovered at least 4 people whom I didn’t know were Catholic until that day. Weird. Hightailed it down to Holland Road for a retreat after that.

Saturday: Still at the retreat. Refreshing. Wonderful. Day went by WAY too fast.

Sunday: Retreat ends around 5pm. Check out. Reach home by 7. Caught True Lies. Remembered why it’s one of my all-time favourite movies. Brain goes blank soon after that.

And that’s my week in a nutshell. Shiznit.

Apologies for the state of the Enetations.

I have no idea what’s wrong with it.

Here’s something I thought I’d try:- replying to one of the posts made within the last week by all the people in my links here, instead on their floobles or comments box or whatever.

hei – I see loneliness as being the time when He wants to make contact with you. Do spend time with Him. He’s always done wonders for me.
kakita – Yes, Klingons rock. It also helps that we’re the culture geek’s greatest wet dream. Think about it, Klingons kill their Gods and worship a mortal man who has returned as a clone. It’s every Sociologist’s dream.
dys – I hope that you’ve got your adapter back, so you can blog soon. Have a great time in the States.
astronaut – I know you’re busy and all, but I do want to hear about your life and sometimes SMSes just don’t cut it.
Lyndon – Wish I could come for the gig, bro. I hope you’d just be satisfied with disembodied support. =P I know I wouldn’t, though.
starfish – Hmmm… Photos. I’m actually kinda glad I wasn’t there…. *mumbles incoherently*
Zeroverge – Yet another template change?
delenn – Hey, pick up the pieces and enjoy your life. She gets the award for BEST TEMPLATE EVER.
Kerio – Dune rulez.

Whee… I’m outta here.

The Post-mortem.

It’s been a while since I’ve spent the whole Sunday away from home. After I left for church a little after 8.30am, I would be out until late that night, just before 11pm. It’s a crazy life I lead.

The Star Trek CCG tournament I was heavily hyping went off well, despite this genius not being able to ACTUALLY give the full details before the event itself. Present were Soulcraft Games’ owner Joe, a friend he invited, as well as the usual Trek gang, consisting of Wolf, kakita, Sephyre, Sojourner and myself. Oh, and Aloysius Lim, who has yet to coin a proper nick for himself. The action was furious, despite the steep learning curve that many of us experienced. Due to the time constraints, we only managed to play two or three games each and at the end of it all, Wolf and the Dominion stood truimphant, with Sephyre and myself (both using the Borg) came in second and third respectively.

I got lucky. kakita would probably have grabbed second or third if he didn’t have to leave early for his driving lesson.

dys leaves tonight for the States. It occurred to me last night how, despite us two only having met early this year, can seem like we’ve known each other longer. One of the many marvels of the Internet age, which allows you to glean as much off a person as he/she is willing to reveal, and grow in a friendship without having to meet each other too often. I wish I could send her off tonight, but I’ll be busy in school, and despite living near to the Airport, I doubt my parents will appreciate another late night from me.

We also celebrated ReaperMan‘s birthday yesterday. Happy 21st, my friend! This self-proclaimed pyromaniac (a claim which has been proven beyond any shadow of doubt) somehow managed to get two tables – one for family, one for friends – at a restaurent which, incidentally, was also hosting TWO wedding dinners. What in the blue hell is the world coming to nowadays?!? Needless to say, of course, the simultaneous celebrations made for much amusement among our group. It was all good fun, and really rather exciting to see so many old friends again – despite them practically bumping into each other daily over at NUS.

ReaperMan and I are trying to get some Star Trek spoof project going on. Anyone wanna play a part in this daring endeavour? I say ‘daring’ because it’s probably going to be my script, and well, I’m hardly the most creative bugger around. So far, we’ve only managed to convince dys to be a part of it, and she agreed on the condition that it’ll only be a voice-over role. If you head over to Team Fragnetics, you’ll discover that ReaperMan is quite the expert film producer, so you’re in good hands.

I’m starting to plan for my birthday thinggy, and I’ve decided to keep it small. So, don’t be disappointed if you don’t get an invitation… *grin*
